FINAL WORKSHOP OF THE PKKZH PROJECT
“Study of Wind Energy Potential in Areas of Interest in Albania and Its Contribution to the Reduction of Electricity Imports and Environmental Pollution”
On 21 May 2026, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) at the Polytechnic University of Tirana successfully hosted the final workshop of the PKKZH project entitled: “Study of Wind Energy Potential in Areas of Interest in Albania and Its Contribution to the Reduction of Electricity Imports and Environmental Pollution” (2024–2026), a project funded by the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (NASRI/AKKSHI).
The event was organized by the project working group of the Department of Energy, FME, PUT, and brought together academic staff from the Department of Energy and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, MSc Energy Engineering students, colleagues from other academic institutions, representatives of public institutions, and stakeholders operating in the energy sector.
During the workshop, the main findings and outcomes of the project were presented, including analyses of Albania’s wind energy potential and recommendations related to the sustainable development of the energy sector, the reduction of dependence on electricity imports, and the environmental impact of wind energy projects. The discussions highlighted the importance of integrating renewable energy sources into the national energy system, their positive contribution to environmental protection, and the need to strengthen collaboration among universities, institutions, and industry.
